PORT BYRON — On Monday, March 11, 2019, Charles Applebee Jr. returned home to rest surrounded by his loving family. He was also known as Charlie or Poddie.
Charles was born on March 11, 1941 to Charles Applebee Sr. and Olive France Applebee. Charlie attended Port Byron schools and graduated in 1960. Charlie took some college courses at Auburn Community College. He married Marion “Sue” Blowers in 1962. He and Sue had four daughters, Laurie Dymock (Michael Vincent), Wendy Applebee, Catherine Laury, and Penny Applebee. He was a caring father who always gave his daughters his best. Charles’ daughters provided him with 10 grandchildren, Lisa Dymock Coon, Jessica Dymock Forsythe, Christopher Laury, Kimberly Laury, Matthew Laury, Samantha Laury, Zachary Laury, Nicholas Silcox, Troy Silcox and Alexus Granbois. He also leaves behind seven great-grandchildren.

Charles worked for Columbian Rope for several years. Upon Columbian Rope closing, Charlie then went to work at Port Byron School District. After he retired from Port Byron schools, he went to work for Arc of Seneca Cayuga. After finishing work, Charlie liked to spend time in his yard and spending time with his dog, Dakota.
Family and friends are welcome to celebrate Charlie’s life from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, 2019, at Audioun Funeral Home LLC, 218 Main St., Port Byron. Services will follow at 6:45 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Central New York Chapter, 441 W. Kirkpatrick St., Syracuse, NY 13204.
A heartfelt thanks to the staff of Moore Place and the 5th floor at the Commons.
“The lucky few are blessed with a Dad like you.”
