Joan (Knapp) Benson

Joan Benson 86, of Port Byron, NY passed away on February 9, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. Joan was a devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. Her smile and loving nature touched so many lives. She was very generous, kind and compassionate to everyone. She was always there to help whoever was in need. She spent her life taking care of her family and anyone else who needed it. Momma always insisted we all learn how to cook. She was a fantastic cook and made sure that there was always "enough" for everyone, including anyone who might stop by unexpectedly. Cooking was her passion. Her stories, singing and nursery rhymes are great memories for our family. Mom was loved by everyone whose life she touched. She will be dearly missed by ALL. Joan was predeceased by her loving husband of 64 years Robert Benson. Joan is survived by daughters Dawn (Tommy Fox), Cherie Benson, Lisa (Earl Knapp), Terry (Alan Patrick), Rochelle Turo (Billy), Sandy Swann (Jamie Emmons recently deceased), Bobbie (Eric Riech). Ten Grandchildren, Fourteen Great Grandchildren (with another on the way). Calling Hours will be Wednesday Feb. 14, 2024 from 4 - 7 pm at the Audioun Funeral Home LLC 218 Main St. Port Byron, NY. A Graveside service will be held 11 am Thursday Feb. 15, 2024 at Springlake Cemetery, 10511 Duck Lake Rd. Port Byron, NY 13140. A celebration of life will follow being held at the Port Byron John Cool Legion #257. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the American Heart Association.
