PORT BYRON – June Pultz Seamans, 93, passed away peacefully Friday, November 2, 2018 at Finger Lakes Center for the Living.
June was a life long resident of Port Byron, graduated from Port Byron Central School in 1943 and continued her education and graduated from Auburn Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1946. She married George “Nate” Seamans in 1946 and was the mother of three sons.
June worked as a nurse for home bound community members, worked at the Port Byron Shopping Guide, was elected and served as the Town of Mentz Clerk from January 1976 to December 1982. June was elected and served as Town of Mentz Councilperson from January 1984 to December 1985. She was the first woman to serve as Town Supervisor of the Town of Mentz from January 1986 to December 1987.
June attended the Port Byron Federated Church for most of her life. During her children’s growing up years, June was a cub scout leader in Port Byron. June spent countless hours knitting sweaters for grandchildren and friends. She was also known for her amazing popcorn balls that where distributed to neighbors far and wide during every Halloween night.
June is survived by sons, John (Andrea) and Ramon (Barbara); and Grandchildren Glen (Jane), Beth (Daniel) White, Tyrell, and Kasey (Kyle) Stazi; and Great Grandchildren Skyler White, Sadie White, Ruby Seamans, Grady Seamans and Tony Stazi. June is also survived by sister Vada Bullock and many nieces and nephews.
June was predeceased by her husband, George “Nate” Seamans and their son Glen, and by brothers Gilbert, Kenneth, Ramon and Glen “Tex”, and sisters Ada Alfred and Laura Rosecrans.
Calling hours are from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at Audioun Funeral Home, 218 Main Street, Port Byron, New York with services following at 7:00 PM with the Rev. Judith Selover, Pastor of Port Byron United Methodist Church. Interment will be on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at 10 AM at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Port Byron, New York.
